What is Identity Theft?
Identity theft occurs when an unauthorized person wrongfully obtains and uses another person's personal information to commit fraud or deception, often for economic gain. Valuable information includes: Name, Date of birth, Social Security Number, Driver's license number, Credit card number or Bank account number.
How is Lifeshield Identity Protection different that other providers?
Lifeshield offer the most comprehensive and complete system of Identity Protection available. We provide you with 24x7 credit monitoring and fraud protection by monitoring databases that signal an identity breach. Lifeshield also provides a nation wide legal network that give you access to legal support if you require remedy for identity theft or if you need to address a legal issue outside of an identity breach. We also remove you from pre-approved credit offer lists to prevent identity thieves from accessing your personal information.
All this is available through a variety of billing services for your convenience. Lifeshield offer credit card, checking account debit as well as billing on your local phone bill for your convenience.
How does Lifeshield Identity Protection work?
When you sign-up with Lifeshield, our protection specialists swing into action: First we notify you via email once you account has been activated, including a single use user name and password as well as a link to your account page.
Using your complete information — updated when you log in the first time — we begin monitoring your identity by continuously comparing your account information to several online databases to make sure no unexpected changes occur that may signal a breach of security. If this should occur, you are alerted immediately.
Since we register you with the major credit bureaus you will receive reports directly from these agencies once they process your information. In rare cases we may need to collect additional information from you to complete this step. Once this is complete, we will send you an email to indicate that you’re identity protection is in place. That means every time your credit is accessed to open a new account or make a major purchase, you will be notified.
Do you notify all three credit bureaus?
Lifeshield places fraud alerts in your name with all three bureaus to ensure that any time someone attempts to open a new account (credit card, utility, loan or mortgage application and any others) in your name that you will be contacted BEFORE that account can be activated.
How does the Pre-approved Credit Offer Block work?
As part of your Identity Protection, Lifeshield processes a request to remove your name from various entities that offer you unsolicited credit. Statistics show that these unsolicited requests are often how identity thieves access your personal information. Once the request is processed, you will be sent an email letting you know that we've requested your removal from pre-approved credit offer lists.
Does Lifeshield have any kind of Insurance against theft?
You will also receive up to $25,000 worth of identity theft insurance coverage. This coverage will help offset some of the cost of restoring your identity to its original status including:
- Lost wages: $500.00 per week, for 4 weeks maximum
- Re-filing of loans
- Defense cost for certain civil & criminal law suits
- Reimbursement of fees for reasonable and necessary costs
How can I sign-up?
The sign-up process is simple, just go to the sign-up page and provide you billing information. We accept major credit cards, bank account debit (ACH), or we can bill your local phone bill. Once you sign-up, we will process your payment and ask you to return to the Lifeshield site and complete your information so that we can add you to the Identity Protection Service.
How do I receive notification of potentially unauthorized activity?
Lifeshield notifies you via email, widget alert, and text (SMS).
